Medea and Her Sisters is the first exhibition to focus exclusively on Baskin’s images of women. With 17 sculptures
and 46 vibrantly colored works on paper created from the 1950s-2000, it examines the way Baskin’s treatment of certain classical themes and female figures evolved in different media, and provides a compelling look into what one man’s vision of
the female form has to tell us about human experience.
24 pages, 24 color prints and 6 b&w prints.
Preface by Jessica Nicoll, director and chief curator of SCMA, and catalogue essay by Rosamond Purcell.
